My 4th grade teacher, Mrs. Lessard, brought our class out into the Maine fall to draw orange and yellow trees. She showed us how to draw two lines and top them off with the letter “v” to make branches. I didn’t know it at the time, but that was the moment I learned to see and draw negative space.
